  I have noticed that in cameras, exceptional sensors help to {focus|concentrate|maintain focus|target|a**** automatically. These sensors with some camcorders change in in the area of contrast, while others start using a beam with infra-red (IR) light, especially in low light. Higher specs cameras occasionally use a mixture of both devices and likely have Face Priority AF where the camera can 'See' the face while keeping focused only in that.
